Hard Dad BMX Comp - 05/05/00
The sheer volume of rider in the old paintbrush factory was unbelievable. Riders from the North and South, East and West came to compete in the title of "The worlds hardest dad". Some names you might recognize are Martyn Tamblin, John Taylor, Tommy Bowers. Northern John was hosting this evening. There was the old group format for the contest, with A, B, and C groups for the Good, the bad and the ugly. There was a lot of great riding going on today. Locals like Dave Wall and Mike Lampard were ripping the place up in their ever progressing nature. Southern riders were doing all sorts of hard stuff, like Tommy Bowers continuously trying to blunt the barrier railing on top of the quarter, which he just happened to pull after landing on his arse a few times. Chester locals were in full force today, and ended up taking 75 percent of the prizes home, all duly deserved though. Chester local Allistair Whitten was wallriding out of the flat bank and then busted a quick lookback out. More people should learn this stuff. Kids and unknown riders from all over were going off in the C group, and some of them could have been in the higher groups with tricks like double barspins, truckdrivers and tailwhips being thrown. Today was the coolest day at Bones for a long time, with lenghty riding sessions and good attitudes all round. Thanks to everyone who made it happen, rode, or watched. Lets hope that we can have another day like this one soon
